Analytics Solutions (AS) operates an Agile delivery model and is made up of a cross-functional team of software development specialists, geospatial information specialists and catastrophe and financial model builders who bring best-in-class analytics, thought leadership and expertise in designing, building and supporting industry standard risk analysis tools. AS is also responsible for the delivery of three of Willis Towers Watson’s major group-wide strategic change programmes, involving significant data, analytics, and client facing technology components.
A UX Designer is required to join the AS team at Willis Towers Watson. The team member will ideally bring demonstrable design expertise and experience, from supporting the early development of ideas working with the business community, supporting analysis and design, development and quality assurance processes, through to providing feedback from the end-user perspective to facilitate a process of iterative development / continuous improvement. Experience of working in a multi-vendor environment and as part of on and off-shore teams is highly beneficial, as is a proven ability to exhibit influence based on credibility and experience. Some travel may be required as part of the required engagement with business and technology stakeholders.
The successful applicant will work within a matrix environment, reporting to the AS Analysis and UX Lead with initial deployment to the Client Facing Technology (CFT) programme.
The CFT Programme is a key, strategic initiative, to deliver a suite of tools to our clients, supporting Willis Towers Watson in becoming the ‘Analytical Broker’. This programme has been actively delivering industry leading tools since 2015, and continues to progress through 2018 with an ever growing demand from the sponsors and stakeholders.
The Programme utilises resources across various geographies and time zones (US, GB and Mumbai), as well as functional disciplines (UX, Analysis, Development, Quality Assurance, and more).
Delivering the UX design components of an overall solution design
Working with the Business Analysis community to support fully understanding business requirements and ensure these fully account for the UX perspective
Working with the UX Function to develop a detailed understanding of Willis Towers Watson brand and associated guidelines.
Working with strategic partners to ensure their products are both compliant with and fully leverage the corporate brand
Working with the Development function to support prototype and full solution delivery development and quality assurance
Knowledge of accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.0 and knowledge of legal accessibility obligations in the UK and internationally
Experience with data visualisation tools including Power BI highly beneficial.
Designing for multi-platform delivery – primarily mobile, tablet and desktop
Working with the QA function and external partners to support usability and accessibility testing.
Ability to achieve consensus across disparate stakeholder groups and evolve UX design to account for this feedback
Experience of understanding complex business processes, involving multiple stakeholder groups and perspectives and designing user experiences to accommodate these
Exposure to Microsoft VSTS (or similar) in relation to management of requirements, project delivery.
Maintaining an awareness of technology trends within and outside of the organisation. To include:Sufficient understanding of technical architecture to ensure technical viability of all design work
Working to defined UX best practices and principles to enable Willis Towers Watson to deliver industry-leading technology solutions.
Maintaining a full range of stakeholder engagement, across business and technology groups, internal and external audiences, from one-to-one up to large workshop environments.
Direct UX design experience in an enterprise environment, including formal methods which can be demonstrated as part of a varied portfolio
Experience as a UX Designer working in an Agile environment.
Comfortable bringing UX skills and product expertise to our strategic partnerships to advise and guide them how to maximize UX in the applications they deliver for Willis Towers Watson.
Detailed knowledge of personas, site maps, user journeys, wireframes and prototypes as part of an overall solution / service design
Commercial experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products, in particular Illustrator and Adobe XD,
Commercial experience with Axure RP prototyping.
Experience of contributing to the full IT project lifecycle (agile and waterfall) from requirements capture through to hand-over to operational support
First-rate communication skills and ability to apply these to rapid and creative problem solving in a pressurised environment
Ability to work to tight deadlines, manage priorities and take responsibility for delivering to time and quality requirements
Ability to work without close supervision, define direction and comply with overall Group strategy and objectives
Understanding of Information Architecture, with an ability to make the intuitive interfaces that enhance the experience
Understanding of Mobile UI patterns / anti-patterns, when and where to apply for responsive designs.
Can demonstrate previous work with an online portfolio.
BA(Hons) or BSc degree qualified – Design would be advantageous.
Experience of working in a financial services organisation, preferably with exposure to the insurance industry/insurance broking. Where this directly relevant experience is not available, we will be looking for an ability to rapidly become effective in a new, unfamiliar environment
