WTW Lead Associate - Climate in London, United Kingdom

The successful candidate would be joining a team of industry leading experts spanning across the fields of insurance, science, catastrophe modelling and engineering with the aim of providing unrivalled analytical services in the area of climate change, natural hazards, adaptation and resilience.

Working in a flexible Hybrid environment, this comes with various technical challenges which are as diverse as the industries and individuals we deal in and involves projects globally. One of the key aspects of this opportunity will be that the candidate will be expected to use in-depth climate and natural hazard capabilities in the fields of risk management and couple this insight with communication and stakeholder management skills.

Apart from leading consulting projects this role also provides the opportunity to build up the business of the climate practice.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Managing and leading consulting projects for WTW’s corporate clients in the areas of physical climate change risks and natural catastrophes by utilizing data, research, problem solving and analytical models and tools.

  • Support on a wide range of consulting projects globally involving the undertaking of climate change risk assessments, adaptation planning and assessment, catastrophe risk modelling and risk engineering assessments.

  • Presentation of deliverables to internal and external clients.

  • The role would also involve leading a modest pool of analysts as well as interacting with other specialists in the areas of actuarial modelling, enterprise risk management, transition risk, insurance, and sustainability.

  • Support in developing and applying innovative approaches for identifying and quantifying climate and natural hazard risks for our clients, for regions where no standardized risk assessment tools or models exist.

  • Help develop business opportunities in the climate and natural catastrophe risk consulting space.

  • Keeping up to date with the latest scientific, business, and regulatory developments around climate change.

  • Knowledge sharing, collaboration, and mentoring of junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Strong project management and team leadership skills and in depth understanding of climate risk consulting arena as well as good business development / presentation skills

  • Strong analytical, engineering-, science- and/or mathematical-based background with interest in the area of climate change, natural hazards and sustainability.

  • Able to communicate scientific, statistical, mathematical, and financial concepts to non- technical audiences. Comfortable and keen presenter.

  • Experiencing in leading a small team of analysts.

  • Ability to find ways to use available data sources to answer questions and solve problems.

  • Knowledge of GIS tools, R, PowerBI and coding would be an advantage.

  • Expertise in a particular natural hazard (e.g. flood) would be an advantage.

  • Highly motivated team player and able to thrive in a growing consultancy team environment

  • Good understanding of the climate change related regulatory landscape such as TCFD, CSRD etc.

  • Where possible, experience in using third party climate or catastrophe models such as RMS, AIR, RQE, KatRisk or at least a good level of understanding of probabilistic and catastrophe modelling concepts.
