This role provides the candidate with an opportunity to join Willis Towers Watson’s Specialist Portfolio Solutions (SPS) business (a growing part of the business) as a Senior Client Lead. SPS are client-friendly, subject matter experts with a commercial focus responsible for developing our strategy, growing our client base and managing clients. We are a global team of 35, have over 100 clients and around $30bn in AUM.

The successful candidate will lead and manage client relationships including with one of WTW’s largest investment clients. This role will require the candidate to manage a team of people to support the management of a large and sophisticated investment trust.

Additionally, the candidate will become a part of the broader Equity Solutions effort within WTW, tasked with promoting the solution internally and externally and managing clients.

The Role

Client service

Demonstrate credibility as an investment practitioner in front of a large, sophisticated client including liaising with the client, Willis Towers Watson Investment Committee and support services (both internal and third party) on an ongoing basis in order to:

  • Maintain and develop client relationships.

  • Prepare, review and dispatch of board meeting papers.

  • Prepare, review and dispatch regular communications and reports.

  • Engage with clients proactively to address client queries or concerns in a timely fashion.

  • Identify, understand issues/risks and manage issues/risks to the client relationship.

  • Engage with Project Management support to ensure all tasks are effectively managed and provide regular updates to client and internal client team.

WTW Investment Committee participation

  • Understand and clearly articulate the investment proposition – the investment thesis, portfolio composition, managers and performance

  • Provide input on how best to manage and evolve the messaging around the proposition

  • Address issues raised by the Investment Committee and / or the client in an effective and timely manner

Commercial

  • Act as a senior advocate internally and externally for the proposition (and wider WTW equity solutions)

  • Liaise with the portfolio management, fund accounting, finance & accounting, reporting risk management and compliance teams to ensure the continued operational effectiveness of the portfolio is maximised.

  • Collaborate with those teams to adjust the service/proposition where necessary to adjust for new regulations or client demands (such as enhanced reporting).

  • Liaise and collaborate with the third party marketing and media relations teams to prepare presentations and other sales material for investors and support investor days. Ensure regular materials are kept up to date and relevant.

The Requirements

  • Degree level education, with subject matter expertise of Investment products and relevant industry experience (7+ years) from Asset Management or Consulting environment, preferably in equities

  • Self-starter who is adaptive, fast-learning, responsive, reliable, well-organised and ambitious

  • Track record of leading / managing a team

  • Display of broad business development skills, including presentation / pitching skills, client / colleague empathy and urgency

  • Strong communication skills, ability to develop relationships and present persuasively

  • Completion of CFA or equivalent qualification

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organised individual able to deliver timely and accurate work, often at short notice

  • Exceptional client management skills and track record of successful relationship management.

  • Commitment to providing a ‘best in class’ service to clients and adherence to ‘Work Excellence’ principles and procedures.

  • Ability to build strong networks internally in the Investment business and to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

  • Natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.
