Financial Data Source (FDS), our financial benchmarking database, allows you to compare financial results and assumptions for major employers’ pension and retiree welfare benefit programs. Data is gathered from 10-K filings, financial reports and annual reports for overall corporate financial results, retirement plan financial disclosures and pension plan asset allocation. The initial data is gathered by Research and Innovation Center staff in Montevideo and Delhi. The data is reviewed and the entire process is managed by the US FDS team.

Please note that this role can be located in any WTW North American office.

The Role

This position would include the following:

Data Review (about 60% of hours)

  • Data is collected for about 2500 companies. This group includes about 1200 U.S. companies and 1300 non-US companies

  • All data collected is reviewed for accuracy and adjusted as needed for unique situations. This is not a simple comparison of tables in reports to tables in FDS but includes understanding international accounting rules, reading footnotes for additional information on plans (e.g., adjustments for regulated utilities, settlements, types of benefit, defined contribution plans)

  • Summarization of results / drafting memos / ad hoc requests

Project Management (about 40% of hours)

  • Coordinate with Montevideo and Delhi Research and Innovation Center staff for data gathering of all companies (including market caps, GIC/SIC codes, market sector), maintaining timelines for each comparator group and fielding questions

  • Track companies included in database for collection / review / completion / inclusion; develop company list for EURO100, Global500, Not-for-profit healthcare, Canada; assist in developing company list for Fortune 1000 and RFM300; add any new companies to FDS system as needed

  • Upload data, publish data, extract all data as needed

  • Contributing ideas for ongoing system enhancements as well as testing of current enhancements

  • Active participation in process improvements to minimize reliance on paper and increase efficiency

The Requirements:

  • 5 – 10 years of experience with benefit plan reporting and accounting results

  • Financial reporting knowledge

  • Experience in benefit plan reporting / accounting results

  • Detail oriented

  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and work independently

  • Ability to work with different groups of people (FDS team, Research & Innovation Center team in Delhi / Montevideo, UK, Canada, Retirement Systems Group)

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics or related field preferred

  • Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a plus
