Summary of Role

Reporting to the GB head of Retirement, this role will suit a dynamic senior retirement professional to lead our team of around 200 colleagues in Reigate who provide Retirement consulting services to corporate and trustee clients, including many of the UK’s largest pension schemes.

Accountable for delivery of services to clients, people development and management, commercial development and financial results of the team. Responsible for leading delivery of consulting services to own portfolio of clients.

Requires a senior retirement professional with considerable client facing consulting and people leadership experience, coupled with the gravitas to work effectively with some of the industry’s largest clients and most experienced consultants.

Given the quality, size and complexity of our client portfolio, you will have the opportunity to lead and support client relationships and colleagues on the full spectrum of pension and benefit issues.

The Role

  • Delivery of commercial growth strategy, working through Commercial Managers to develop and retain our existing client relationships and to develop the pipeline of new business opportunities.

  • Responsible for business planning working with Operations Leader and for managing financial performance in line with budget and key performance indicators.

  • Working with Operations Leader to manage client service delivery and recruitment to resource the team at a level consistent with client workloads.

  • Accountable for development of colleagues within the team and for client team succession planning, working through Development Managers. Act as compensation manager responsible for all compensation decisions for the team.

  • Accountable for scoping, pricing and profitability of client services delivered by the team.

  • People management of the most senior cadre of consultants, together with the Operations Leader including 1:1s, coaching, training, performance reviews.

  • Build working relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.

Key working relationships: Head of Retirement GB, Head of Retirement Operations, Office Retirement Leaders, Operations Leader, Commercial Managers, Development Managers, Head of Retirement Sales GB.

  • Capability and gravitas to lead a large team of consultants delivering a range of services to clients with varied and complex requirements.

  • Experience of new business success and in growing client relationships and retirement consulting services with companies and trustees of large pension schemes.

  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.

  • The ability to see the “big picture,” leveraging the resources of Retirement and related practices to address clients’ business challenges.

  • Experience in managing performance and engagement of senior colleagues

  • An executive presence with polished and well developed oral and written communication skills, including strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills.

  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity.

  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.

  • Strong analytical and creative skills.

  • Enjoys coaching and mentoring colleagues.
