As a Lead Software Architect, you will play a key role in the evaluation and recommendation of various tools, processes, methods and products to build reliable, scalable and high-performing, enterprise class solutions for the business.
While this role primarily involves strategy, review, recommendation and design of initial and evolving architectures, involvement in certain aspects of the SDLC may be needed to help overcome issues or obstacles that were not addressed in the initial architecture and to ensure the engineering team is implementing the development patterns, overall architecture and models as originally designed. Further involvement would be required to help the engineering team augment the initial design and architecture as needed to meet changing business requirements.
This role is strategic and planning/design in nature and engagement/project based, meaning you will be working on a variety of different projects with the Health & Benefits NA Technology group and not in one specific business or application based area. The software architect will be required to analyze an array of product offerings and business requirements within the organization. You will work with the product development teams (e.g. engineering, product managers and analysts) to evaluate and identify solutions that meet the needs of the business, utilizing industry standard best practices and creative design techniques to overcome complex business and technical challenges (e.g. maximum performance with complex data sets). Some additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Help articulate business requirements associated with projects; develop and gain buy-in for high-level designs (Conceptual Architecture) that support the business requirements
Create detailed end-to-end architecture that entail the following elements: System Architecture, Application Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, Security Architecture, Enterprise Application Integration, Microservice-Oriented Architectures, and Business Process Management
Provide architecture leadership and mentor projects consisting of employees and outside contractors
Conduct design reviews, code reviews, progress reviews and other project specific governance
Participate in the development of Information Technology Strategies and Roadmaps in support of the business strategies
Help in establishing architecture and application development standards and best practices
Participle in the evaluation of emerging technology and tools
Design, develop, and implement solutions for transactional databases, data warehouses and ETL processes based on Microsoft SQL 2014 and later technologies
Design and architect the data model and functional schema for OLTP and OLAP data stores
Develop, test, and implement views, triggers, functions, and stored procedures for an enterprise application database hosted on SQL Server 2014 and later versions
Interface with the development team to provide integrated application solutions
Design effective system architectures with a focus in usability and scalability
Assist Product Engineering Lead estimate effort required for system enhancements.
Plan and execute cloud migration of on premise applications with best practices and techniques
Experience working with Agile teams and recommend best practices
Ensure the existing and new application architecture stack is agile, integrated, reliable, scalable, and highly available
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related development experience.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
Strong understanding and experience with Azure application architecture, including the use of PaaS, IAAS and Azure functions, etc.
Experience with migrating on premise applications to Azure
Experience with Azure cloud security
Experience with Service Fabric
Experience with Containers
Experience with Azure SQL and Azure DB technologies
Experienced developer with strong .NET programming skills.
ASP.NET, C#.NET, MVC and Web Service technologies (WCF)
AngularJS, Typescript, Bootstrap, jQuery and other related 3 rd Party Open Source Tools
nHibernate, Entity Framework, Caching (Redis)
SQL development experience (TSQL, reports, performance tuning).
Experience with browser based web applications delivered over the Internet that support high user concurrency.
Experience managing/leading a team of technical developers.
Minimum of 5 years using Microsoft SQL Server technologies in an enterprise environment
Demonstrable project experience architecting and implementing enterprise solutions
Preferably at least 3 years working with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and methodologies
SQL Server 2014 and later versions. Preferably, experience with table partitioning strategies, columnstore indexes, AlwaysOn availability groups, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
Experience working with large relational databases
Excellent verbal and writing skills, including the ability to research, design, and write new documentation, as well as to maintain and improve existing material
Sometravel may be required
Domain expertise in the insurance or health care industries is a plus
